Visitors buying drinks and snacks at Amsterdam ArenA now have the option of contactless payment using their own bank cards. Swiping is also possible.
A pilot conducted during the first six months of 2014 showed that visitors’ preferred payment methods are contactless payment and swiping, using their own bank cards. Contactless payment is a method that does not require the consumer to enter a PIN number. Hidde Salverda, director of the events division at Amsterdam ArenA, explains, "It was a logical decision for us to make the switch. This is a very user-friendly and fast payment method that reflects our desire to make things as easy as possible for our visitors."
More and more companies are considering offering contactless payment as an option. ABN AMRO helps companies to implement their contactless payment systems. Berend Dinkla, director of Products & Business Development, Corporate Banking, comments, "This payment method is attracting a great deal of interest from business customers. And once the option is available consumers don’t really want to go back."
Cash points have been installed in the gallery for Amsterdam ArenA’s first ring. The second ring and the main building will follow in November and December. For the present, visitors can still pay using their ArenACards.
