Not only lockdown measures hurt the economy, also the behavioural response of consumers towards the virus. As people self-isolate, they spend less physically in sectors that remained open during the lockdown. After the surge of the virus in mid-September, physical transactions have dropped. This could be due to the behaviour response of consumers toward the virus… but also because second-round effects come into play.
