Dorothée Appel appointed Chief Information Officer RCBF at ABN AMRO

Dorothée Appel has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and Functions (RCBF) at ABN AMRO’s Innovation & Technology department. She will start on 1 October 2020 and is a direct report of ABN AMRO's CI&TO and member of the Executive Committee Christian Bornfeld.

CIO RCBF develop applications for the business lines Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and Functions. An important focus area is to improve the agility and predictability of the delivery of high quality software. A total of 2,960 employees, vendors and partners work for IT RCBF.

Dorothée is transferring from her current position as CIO and CDO (Chief Digital Officer) at Swiss insurance company Zurich Gruppe Deutschland. She brings with her nearly 30 years of experience in various IT functions at a variety of companies. In addition to Microsoft, AXA Assistance and BMW, she is also familiar with the banking world, having worked from 2016 for over 2.5 years at ING Bank N.V. as Chief Operating Officer (COO) IT. 

Christian Bornfeld: ‘As well as heading the IT function of Zurich Gruppe Deutschland since 2018, Dorothée has also been responsible for driving its transition to an agile IT target operating model as a pillar of its digitalisation strategy. Given that we are also fully engaged in digital transformation within ABN AMRO, I am delighted that Dorothée will be bringing this experience to the role.’
