ABN AMRO adds new investment products for advisory clients

ABN AMRO has announced new investment products for its advisory clients in the Netherlands. New products will include investment funds that ABN AMRO manages in partnership with other asset managers, for example ABN AMRO’s multi-manager funds. For these funds, ABN AMRO’s asset manager ABN AMRO Investment Solutions (AAIS) delegates its management function by mandating external portfolio managers specialising in the specific asset classes in which they invest. Advisory clients will also have access to more funds handled by external parties: previously, those investment products were restricted to institutional and asset management clients.

ABN AMRO MeesPierson is trimming its allocation to equity from modestly overweight to neutral. The private bank has become less positive toward equity in light of the anticipated slowdown of both global economic growth and corporate earnings growth amid various geopolitical uncertainties. That said, ABN AMRO MeesPierson is not counting on a recession in 2019.

ABN AMRO expects equity returns to be lower in 2019

ABN AMRO Private Banking continues to prefer equities over bonds. Although it expects equities to notch up positive returns in 2019, ABN AMRO believes these returns will be lower than those typically recorded in previous years. In its 2019 Investment Outlook, ABN AMRO Private Banking points to forecasts of reduced economic growth as the expected cause of lower corporate earnings, although slower but sustained growth continues to underpin its preference for equities over bonds. It recommends keeping a close eye on economic developments in 2019 and adjusting investment portfolios for any expected change in circumstances.

iDEAL payments using QR code in mobile banking app

From today, ABN AMRO clients can do their iDEAL payments by scanning a QR code on their computer screens, with the actual payment carried out via ABN AMRO’s mobile banking app. This removes the need to use an e.dentifier, if the client prefers not to.

Wealthy? Lots of business contacts, small circle of friends

Millionaires aren’t just flush with money, they also tend to have very extensive business networks. In fact, millionaires typically have no less than 537 people in their active business networks, ABN AMRO MeesPierson’s annual Wealth Monitor survey has just established. If you have a little less to spend but are still labelled wealthy at a minimum 500,000 euros, you’re also likely to have quite a few business contacts, although half those of millionaires at an average 261 people.

ABN AMRO: Investment climate to remain favourable in 2018

Despite geopolitical uncertainties and the associated likelihood of more volatile markets, ABN AMRO believes that the investment climate remains favourable. In its new Investment Strategy for June 2018, ABN AMRO argues that equities will continue to drive portfolio returns during the second half of 2018. The bank also suggests gradually building up bond positions, though for the present it remains cautious about this asset class.

Older ABN AMRO clients prove above-average Internet Banking users

Older ABN AMRO clients make above-average use of Internet Banking. In 2017, some 90 per cent of clients over the age of 65 were Internet Banking users, compared with 86 per cent for all private and retail clients together last year. Mobile Banking is much less popular among the older population, with only 26 per cent of retail clients using this service in 2017. This is way below the overall uptake of mobile banking by smartphone, which stood at 66 per cent.

ABN AMRO launches #Beeldbankieren webcam advisory service

Anyone walking, travelling by rail or driving on the A10 ring-road yesterday evening couldn’t have missed the large images of people projected on the side of ABN AMRO’s head office at Gustav Mahlerplein in Amsterdam. This was the bank’s way of giving a ‘face’ to those employees who provide fast, easy and personalised financial advice to clients across the Netherlands through video banking appointments. The #Beeldbankieren campaign shows how successfully personalised advice and new technology can go hand in hand. A third of all advisory meetings already take place through video banking (as much as 61% for mortgage advice). The images projected onto the ABN AMRO building at Gustav Mahlerplein in Amsterdam can be seen each evening up to and including Sunday 20 May.
