ABN AMRO continues to strengthen its leading Energy, Commodities & Transportation (ECT) Clients business with the appointment of Jeroen Westrik as Global Head of ECT Clients Natural Resources. Recently, ABN AMRO announced to expand its ECT Clients activities with natural resources.
ABN AMRO’s private bank MeesPierson believes that traffic laws and car insurance conditions should be modified before self-driving cars are actually allowed to drive on public roads. MeesPierson’s knowledge centre says that current liability laws would lead to undesirable situations and that insuring self-driving cars would be virtually impossible.

The bank will extend this service to all of its business clients later this year.
As from September 2016, ABN AMRO will no longer extend new loans to students starting a course at one of the Dutch flight training schools. Until that time, new loan applications will be assessed very carefully.
Today ABN AMRO launches a pilot project to develop a new app called Grip. Ten thousand of the bank’s customers running iOS will be trialling the app, which offers a range of financial planning features allowing them to get a grip on their spending.
Starting 15 December 2015, all 5.2 million cardholding clients of ABN AMRO can use their cards for contactless payment. ABN AMRO has spent recent months accelerating the rollout of new bank cards to replace cards that were not contactless-ready. Karin Kersten, Director Transaction Banking , explains, ‘Compared with other payment methods, contactless payment offers improved speed, security and ease of use. We encourage our commercial clients to use contactless terminals for the same reasons.’
Starting today, Android users can use the ABN AMRO Mobile Banking app to transfer money to any beneficiary without needing their e.dentifier. Instead, they only need a 5-digit identification code to authorise the transfer. If the client has activated a daily limit, this functionality is subject to that maximum. iOs users will have to wait until January for this option. Previously, transfers could only be made using an e.dentifier unless the beneficiary was an account number to which the client had already transferred funds during the past 18 months.
As per today, new customers can sign up with ABN AMRO using their smartphone. For identification the bank will request photos of your identity card or passport, a portrait picture (selfie), and an iDeal payment transfer of €0.01. ABN AMRO is the first Dutch major bank where new customers can sign up using a selfie.
As from today, clients can access their credit card details in the ABN AMRO Mobile Banking app. Credit card expenses and the client’s payment limit can now be retrieved in the iOS version of the app, and the Android version will follow in two weeks.
ABN AMRO has added a new feature to its Mobile Banking app: the possibility to attach images to separate debit card transactions. Images make banking more visual, more personal and more transparent, and ABN AMRO is leading the way in the Netherlands.
